Principal's Daily Update

Good morning, WMHS students.

I hope you are doing well and are finding some time to get outside to enjoy this beautiful weather. Keep working on finding that balance between working on a schedule of school work and assignments while still finding moments during the day to take breaks, get outside, and take in the sun and fresh air.

A few announcements today:

1. I just want to remind everyone about the plan to honor Ms. Cohn who is retiring this year. Again, we are asking all students who have Ms. Cohn this year or in past years and colleagues in the school who know her to take a few minutes to write a short note congratulating Ms. Cohn on her retirement.

Please bring these notes to school and drop them in a box outside of central office (the side door entrance near the faculty parking lot) by Monday, May 25.

I hope that this gesture will be a way that we can honor Ms. Cohn and she can keep these notes as a reminder of the WMHS community that she has served for many years. Reach out to me if you have any questions or if you do not have a way to get your letter to the school.

2. Sophomores and Juniors: Are you interested in getting involved in educating and promoting Human Rights in the Wakefield Community? The Wakefield Human Rights Commision has an open seat for a high school student, since current senior, Christina Joseph, has completed her term on the board. Thank you, Christina, for doing an awesome job in this role! This is a voting seat on the commission and the position runs from May 1- April 30th, including participation in meetings held the 3rd Tuesday evening of the month. More information about the WHRC can be found here:

If you want further information about the position, you can email Christina Joseph ( or Commission Member Pina Masciarelli (

If you are interested in applying for the position, please send an email to me by May 28 (one week from today) including some details about why you are interested in being on the Commission, what you will contribute to the group, and what you hope to take away from the experience.

Have a great day,

Ms. McLeod
