STUDENT INFORMATION  

*Our STEM Week trivia question last week was “Which color catches the human eye first?” We accepted both “yellow” and “red” as correct answers. We selected a random student from those that answered correctly. The Galvin STEM trivia winner for Friday was _________________ on Team _____. Congratulations! You can stop by the main office to pick up your gift card. 

Congratulations to all of those that participated in the cybersecurity and coding challenges! While the raffles have ended, the challenges will remain open. Feel free to stick with it and keep exercising that STEM part of your brain! The following winners can stop by the main office to pick up their gift cards.

*Students interested in Joining Community Service Club can get a permission slip from Mr. Vaillancourt or in the main office. Community Service Club will meet on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:30 starting Wednesday, October 27th. Community Service Club is open to students in all grades and participants will help with different service projects over the course of the school year. 

*The next Best Buddies meeting will be on November 9, 2021.  All students will need to have completed the application online to attend, so please reach out to Mrs. Ficociello or Officer Kelley before November 9th if you need the link.

*Attention 8th graders, a representative from the Northeast Vocational High School here in Wakefield will be at Galvin on Wed. October 27th after lunch, to give a presentation to students who are interested in applying.  Look out for an email from Mr. Cedrone to sign up for the presentation.

PARENT INFORMATION

*Middle School Girls Try Hockey for Free* Learn to Play Hockey Program

Wakefield Youth Skating Association is  hosting a Middle school girls try free hockey program. This learn to play program is designed to introduce girls ages 9-14 to the sport of ice hockey.  Skaters are expected to be able to stand up on their own and make forward progress. This is for first time players. Sessions are November 28th, December 5th, December 12th, and December 19th from 1-2pm at Hockeytown USA. As part of this program WYSA has access to limited sets of loaner protective gear and skates that have been donated.  All skaters are required to wear full protective gear. *As a reminder to all students, with the weather turning cooler and outdoor lunches continuing, we want to make sure all students are dressing appropriately. Please make sure to have a jacket or sweatshirt with you.

*Lost and Found: If any student has lost a water bottle or sweatshirt please check the blue bin in the main office entrance. If you left something behind during PE class, please check the area next to the bleachers in the gymnasium. Thank you.
