DAY 5

STUDENT INFORMATION

*Today, we joyfully celebrate White Day, a cherished tradition originating in Japan and now embraced in various parts of the world. White Day, observed exactly one month after Valentine's Day, is a time-honored occasion where individuals reciprocate the love and kindness shown to them on Valentine's Day. It is customary for people, especially in Japan, to express their appreciation through the exchange of white-themed gifts such as marshmallows, white chocolates, or even white flowers. As we commemorate this cultural celebration, let us also take a moment to appreciate the diversity of traditions that enrich our school community. Let's embrace the spirit of generosity, friendship, and cultural exchange that White Day embodies. Happy White Day, everyone!

*Attention all Youth Action Team members: Instead of having our traditional meeting this week,  we will meet TODAY  at the Beebe Library Plaza for the Wakefield Alliance Against Violence White Ribbon Ceremony.  This event starts at 2:30.  Please check Google Classroom for more information or email Mrs. Tarness.

*Beginning Monday, March 18th, any 8th grade student who celebrates Ramadan is invited to have a drink free/food free lunch break in room 337. You are welcome to bring a friend with you as well.

*Best Buddies wants you to Rock Your Socks!! Every year on March 21, people all over the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. Down Syndrome is also referred to as Trisomy 21 (this is why we celebrate on 3-21). It remains the most common chromosomal condition diagnosed in the United States, occurring in about 1 in every 700 babies that result in varying intellectual and physical challenges. So on 3-21, let’s be a part of the global voice in advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well being of people with Down syndrome!

*WHS Dance Clinic - Spring 2024: Have you ever wondered what it's like to be on the WHS Dance Team?   Are you looking for some extra opportunities to stretch and work on your dance skills? The Dance Clinic is open to students in grades 4-8 and they begin this Friday, March 15th. Please see the flyer in the window of the main office for more details.

*5th/6th grade student council is meeting Tuesday, March 26th in Mrs. Shea's room. Please check Google Classroom for more information.

*REMINDER: Students should not be entering the building before 7:00am unless they are attending Jazz Band, Math Club, or have made prior arrangements with a teacher. Students may come into the building for breakfast at 7am. Students must be actively eating breakfast or they will be sent outside. Please dress for the weather and plan accordingly. Thank you.

PARENT INFORMATION

*Review of Dismissal Procedures: If you should need to dismiss your student during the school day, please send your child in with a note, and have them report to the main office. We will log them in our dismissal book and give them a pass. This will help to alleviate disruptions to classrooms during teaching time. You can still email the teachers, however if that is all you do it may not be transferred to the main office. Also, if you just email the main office staff or Administration, due to the volume of traffic in the office in the morning, an email may not be seen right away. Parents/Guardians MUST come to the main office to sign their child out. Students cannot just walk out on their own. Thank you for your understanding.

*A gentle reminder,  for the safety of all staff and students, parents should not be exiting through the parking lot after dropping children off coming from North Avenue. Parents need to exit the parking lot onto Armory Street. Thank you for your cooperation.

*Students should not be entering the building before 7 am as there is no supervision. If your child attends jazz band, math club, or has made arrangements to meet a teacher those would be the only exceptions for entering the building early.

TODAY’S LUNCH: Bacon Cheeseburger with Spicy Fries, Potato Salad, and Fruit

FRIDAY'S  LUNCH: Creamy Mac-n-Cheese, Glazed Carrots, a Roll, and Fruit
