February 1, 2023

The Black Student Union would like to invite students and the Wakefield Public School community to the library this afternoon to share, talk and reflect on the recent video that was released about the tragic killing of Mr. Tyre Nichols. Students and staff will have the opportunity to talk about what happened or listen as others reflect on how they are processing this situation. The goal is for us to listen, even if we are not sure what to say. This will be a trusting, comfortable, and safe space for questions and to try to find some answers together. Please note that participation is not mandatory, but we hope that many of you will choose to join us in the library on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 right after school.

Also, today is the first “Black Out Wednesday” which will continue throughout February to commemorate the contributions of black people to American history. The BSU is asking everyone in the school community to wear all black on Wednesdays in solidarity with the BSU.
