Important. Freshman Orientation Date Change

July 31, 2023

WMHS Class of 2027 and families,

Welcome! We are looking forward to meeting you all as you become the newest members of the WMHS community.

Due to conflicts with pre-season schedules, we have moved Grade 9/New Student Orientation to Monday, August 28th. All incoming grade 9 students and students new to WMHS are invited to attend an orientation session at the high school on Monday, August 28th from 9:00 a.m.  – 11:45 a.m. STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE BEFORE 9:00 a.m. TO BE CHECKED IN FOR THE ORIENTATION SESSION. The meeting will start in the Charbonneau Field House located at the back of the high school so please plan to be dropped off in the lot behind the high school.

At Orientation, we will introduce you to school staff and give you an overview of the coming year. Individual class schedules will be distributed, and you will have the opportunity to meet your guidance counselor and ask questions. You will also interact with current WMHS students (Class Officers, Team Captains, members of Student Council, and other Student Leaders) who will assist you in touring the high school and locating your homeroom, classrooms, and locker. Photographs for student IDs will not be taken at Orientation but will be scheduled during the first few weeks of the school year.

An optional pizza lunch will be available to students after the orientation session from 11:15 – 11:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. All pizza is ordered through a district-approved, allergy aware vendor and there is a space to indicate food allergies on the sign-up form. We hope that you will stay and enjoy an opportunity to socialize with your classmates while enjoying lunch together.

Please plan to be picked up after Orientation at the front of the high school (in the front driveway on Farm Street).

You must register to attend Orientation (and indicate whether or not you will stay for optional pizza lunch) on this form by Friday, August 18th: Orientation 2023 Registration:

As you prepare to transition to high school this summer, we strongly suggest you check out one of these books that will help you reflect, mentally prepare, and motivate yourself to be ready for September. This is not required reading, but just a suggestion: Motivational books to prepare for HS

We look forward to welcoming you as the newest members of the Wakefield Memorial High School community. Please reach out to the main office (781-246-6440) or email David Robinson, Director of Guidance, at david.robinson@wpsk12.org if you have any questions about Orientation.
